LL rain isn’t a favorite of mine, nor the boards, but having a woman duet the tune with bob almost seems to validates it - make sense? I’ll never get beyond ‘the street-cats making love’ line, but that ain’t her fault. 5-6-78 has a real stand out version! And if you’re unfamiliar with show... do yourself a favor! First set is strong - Loser, peggy o, and the aformentioned ll rain all rise above, but set 2 is straight ahead Primo-Sticky-Dope! terripan > playin’ > pan drums that sound like Jacob marley’s ghost dragging his chains across an intergalactic sea of tranquility > baby jerry jam > then bobby calls him back from the foamy front with a couple of westernish whale sounds before it’s one for all, all for one, as they settle into a lovely wharf rat. Great stuff!

Back to donna… love her work on comes a time (obviously, 5-9-77 comes to mind) sunshine day dream is stronger, or at least more playful (imho) with the mouth from muscle shoals. WRS’ with her and jer are simply sublime. I know this is going against the grain, but I've always dug the ‘lady finger’ part of stephen when she’s in the mix.

I enjoy Donna singing with Looks like Rain & Scarlet Begonias...NOT PITB, find me ONE PITB where she sounds great-(not likely.
I think the rest of the band took great amusement with her wailing with that song.
"That will wake up those stoners! -hahahaha"

yeah but she only lasts a few seconds in PITB and at least it conveys a feeling/thrill that I am feeling too - like HELL YEAH! But how can anyone justify the wailing and whooping that drones on and on and on ruining every tight and bouncy arrangement of Scarlet?
